Retaining Wall Installation in Fairfax, VA

We hired CM Hardscapes to build a retaining wall and concrete patio floor for the area outside our basement sliding glass door. When we called to request an estimate, they came right out and gave us an estimate that same day. They suggested a cinder block wall covered with bricks to replace the timber wall which was deteriorating. This wall is such an improvement! It looks beautiful! We are so happy with the engineering they used to solve our water runoff issue. They filled the area behind the wall with gravel and installed a draining pipe behind the wall. They also took a lot of care to match the bricks in the wall to those in the house. They came out the very next week to begin work on the project. René and his team worked so hard to complete the project in one week. They were very detail oriented, and cleaned up the area afterwards beautifully. The customer service I received in the office was exceptional. They responded quickly and satisfactorily to all of my questions. No other contractor I talked to suggested covering the cinder blocks with bricks. It makes such a difference! I would highly recommend them.

We put off this starting this project for years. We were in desperate need of getting our front, brick steps fixed. They were from the 1980’s and were crumbling badly - just in bad shape overall. The rail was also wiggly and unstable - very unsafe. We got a quote in 2022, but didn’t request to start the repair job until 2025 - and the price was not too different from the original quote that was 3-years old. CM Hardscapes was very responsive and they were able to come in and complete the job within a few weeks of the first call / quote. The owner also personally came to our site for a visit and addressed an area that we were concerned with immediately. Paul replaced the railing and we are very happy with the design and final product. He is very courteous. CM called or emailed during every step of the process so we were aware of the expectations from the beginning. We couldn’t ask for better response time and service! Thank you, CM, for making a project that we procrastinated on (for too long) go so smoothly!! We are very happy to have a safe front porch now and the bricks were a great match - it looks great.
